FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT - EVERY DAY IS A BLESSING FROM GOD!

EVERY DAY IS A BLESSING FROM GOD

I will be turning 50 years old in a few days, and WOW, I cannot believe 50 years has gone by so fast. This being my last 5 days as a 40-something, I wanted to post my personal thoughts and reflections on the Life that GOD has blessed me with.

Even though I have had a very difficult year, emotionally, spiritually, and physically, I am still blessed.  We are not promised that we won't go through hard times, just that GOD will be there to help us through them and deliver us from them.

From what I have observed from other people, most of them do not like their birthdays. They dread becoming another year older. They frown and act like it's a curse.

I urge you to NOT have that attitude. Consider how much GOD loves you and how HE created you on purpose. Life is a blessing from GOD, a gift that we cannot repay. No matter what problems this world gives us, we cannot fathom the wonderful gift of life that was purposely given to us by our wonderful Creator and LORD.

Tomorrow you may not be here - today you are alive and have people who love you. Life truly is a blessing. Take it one day at a time and celebrate your gift of life "every" day - YIPPEE - today is my birthday and I thank YOU LORD for blessing me with another day of life!

Your life, my life, all life here on earth is just a blink compared to eternity. And, when we pass this world into eternity, it will be a brand new birthday - a birthday of eternal happiness and love and being in the presence of our LORD GOD ALMIGHTY! Think of it like, I am one more year closer to being with JESUS and with my loved ones who are with HIM. What could be so sad about that? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Think about this also - our LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, loves you so much that HE took on your sins - HE took on all of your pain and suffering - HE considers your life so important, that HE died for you. You are loved so much more than you could ever imagine.

Be THANKFUL for every day - for every birthday you have - and celebrate it with JESUS!

THANK YOU, PRECIOUS LORD AND SAVIOR, FOR GIVING ME ANOTHER YEAR OF LIFE - YEE HAW! I MADE IT TO 50 - THANK YOU JESUS FOR GIVING ME EACH AND EVERY DAY TO LIVE FOR YOU - TO LIVE WITH YOU AS THE HEAD OF MY HOUSE - THE HEAD OF MY HEART. AMEN.

GENESIS 2:7
7 Then the LORD God formed a man[b] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

PSALM 143:8-9
8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.

ROMANS 6:22-23
22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT - 08/09/2011 - SUMMER'S ALMOST OVER...BUT NOT OUR TROUBLES

08/09/2011

by Rev. Janet Marston-McGregor

SUMMER'S ALMOST OVER...BUT NOT OUR TROUBLES

Here in Colorado, it's August, summer's almost over - already starting to get much cooler in the morning and evenings. This summer has had its challenges, family tragedies and numerous problems and crises, one right after the other, but, my LORD GOD ALMIGHTY still reigns and HE still provides a way out of any situation, even when there seems to be no way.

Our world is going through turmoil - our families are in turmoil - jobs are scarce, money is tight, and emotions are stretched. HOWEVER, this too shall pass. This is nothing that hasn't happened before throughout the course of history. Our ancestors survived. We will survive. Sure, it will be difficult. Sacrifices will have to be made. As long as we don't compromise our morals and our loyalty to our GOD in Heaven, we shall survive.

GOD does not promise that bad things won't happen, just that HE will help us through them. Think about the apostles and all the horrible things they went through. They didn't give up. They were persecuted. Most of them lost their families, jobs, money, and were tortured and imprisoned. DID THEY GIVE UP? NO! They held on to CHRIST, our STRENGTH, our REDEEMER.

Just when you think you can't take anymore (and I have been there recently) - hold onto JESUS. HE is ready, willing, and able to help you through anything that comes your way.

Who better to run to in times of trouble than the only ONE who will ALWAYS win? Actually, HE has already won - we just need to trust in HIM to lead us to victory.

SATAN CANNOT TAKE YOUR SOUL - you are the only one who can give it away or go astray - we all make choices - we all make mistakes - and GOD, who is loving, trusting and forgiving, will always be there with HIS outstretched loving arms open wide to bring you home. Bring on the hugs, LORD!

LORD JESUS, TIMES ARE TOUGH. PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING. LIVES ARE IN TURMOIL. WE DESPERATELY NEED YOUR GUIDANCE. WE NEED YOUR HELP, YOUR STRENGTH, YOUR LOVE. PLEASE HELP US LORD. GIVE US THE WISDOM AND PERSEVERANCE WE NEED TO GET THROUGH THE TOUGH TIMES AND NEVER LEAVE US. WITHOUT YOU, WE ARE NOTHING. WITHOUT YOU, WE ARE LOST. WE PUT ALL OF OUR FAITH AND TRUST IN YOU, OUR STRENGTH AND REDEEMER. AMEN.

Mark 10:29-31
New International Version (NIV)
29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel
30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life.
31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Romans 8:34-36
New International Version (NIV)
34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

2 Corinthians 12:9-10
New International Version (NIV)
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

1 Thessalonians 3:6-8
New International Version (NIV) (Timothy’s Encouraging Report)
6 But Timothy has just now come to us from you and has brought good news about your faith and love. He has told us that you always have pleasant memories of us and that you long to see us, just as we also long to see you.
7 Therefore, brothers and sisters, in all our distress and persecution we were encouraged about you because of your faith.
8 For now we really live, since you are standing firm in the Lord.

Revelation 2:9-11
New International Version (NIV)
9 I know your afflictions and your poverty—yet you are rich! I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
10 Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.
11 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death.

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT - HAVE FAITH - WILL SERVE - 05/19/2011

HAVE FAITH - WILL SERVE

Been a very busy and CRAZY year so far - besides going through a personal crisis that took a year to be finalized, I am still studying and ministering at a nursing home and state veterans home in Colorado. One of my little sheep (David) is on his way to be with Jesus and is on hospice care. It is hard to watch someone you know dwindle away - but it is also a glorious time, because they will no longer suffer and will be in the glorious presence of our wonderful Lord and Savior. I am also working on a bible study to start soon at the nursing home on "faith" - using several resources and also my own experiences, where my faith has been tested. Also, continuing to serve God through visitations and my global mobile ministry work.

I praise GOD Almighty for carrying me through and for forgiving me for my sins and for failing. We humans are in a constant battle with the devil and there are times when we fail. Sometimes it is very hard for us to forgive ourselves when we fail. The GOOD news is that JESUS forgives us and has already won the battle and the war - and we are victorious through the precious redeeming blood of our Lord and Savior! So, no matter how hard it is to accept our failings, we need to jump back up and say "Okay, Lord, I goofed up big time - please help me to learn and grow from my mistakes and most of all, help me to forgive myself."

GOD is GOOD and HIS MERCY endures FOREVER and EVER!

Trials and tribulations help is to grow strong, both spiritually and emotionally, when we turn to GOD and give everything to Him and allow Him to do His work through us. I have been there - done that - numerous times - and it never ceases to amaze me that GOD is always there to help me, teach me, and love me - every single time. GOD is here for you too - all you have to do is ask. It doesn't cost anything - just open your mouth and say those humble little words - "Lord, Jesus, I need You. Please, help me."

Now, that wasn't so hard, was it?

MY PRECIOUS LORD AND SAVIOR, I LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH. AND, I KNOW YOU LOVE ME, TOO. I KNOW YOU LOVE ME MORE THAN I CAN EVER IMAGINE. I KNOW THAT YOUR MERCY AND KINDNESS AND GOODNESS IS FAR MORE THAN ANY WORDS CAN SAY. THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME THROUGH MY MISTAKES, LORD. THANK YOU FOR WRAPPING YOUR LOVING ARMS AROUND ME AND CARRYING ME THROUGH MY TOUGHEST TIMES, WHEN I CANNOT MAKE IT ON MY OWN. MOST OF ALL, THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME FROM MY SINS. AMEN.

ROMANS 5:1-8
(1) Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
(2) By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
(3) And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
(4) And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
(5) And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
(6) For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
(7) For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
(8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT - When Your Faith is Tested - 05/05/2011

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT

by Rev. Dr. Janet Marston-McGregor

WHEN YOUR FAITH IS TESTED

Have you ever had your faith tested? Have you ever been in a very traumatic situation in your life that was so devastating and so horrible that you actually wanted to give up on living? Have you ever wondered 'why' God would allow horrible things to happen in your life?

Let me assure you that almost everyone has been through that type of trauma. I, myself, have also been through very traumatic life-changing events, including one recently that took over a year to be over. There were moments when I wanted to give up on life. No, I would not kill myself, but I definitely begged God to take me. I could not imagine going through life having to deal with the situation I was in for the rest of my life. I felt like a complete failure, devastated and depressed.

So, what got me through it? Well, let me tell you. First, I am very glad that God did not take me like I asked. Sometimes His answer is 'no' and now I am very glad He didn't give me what I wanted. So, be careful what you ask for - it isn't always the best thing for you.

What saved me from this devastating trauma was putting my complete faith and trust in God and ONLY God. My faith in God was never an issue. It was my trust in people, in the things of this world that knocked me down. When I had those horrible feelings of devastation and hopelessness, I immediately prayed to God to help me, guide me, and show me a sign that things would get better.

Once I prayed, I left it to God and trusted that something good would come out of it. I had to have 'faith' that no matter what the outcome, whether it be good or bad, I had to know without a doubt that God would protect me and get me through it. And, HE did. And now that my situation has ended, I feel vindicted. My GOD delivered me from the evil that pursued me. My GOD prevailed!

We are simple humans and are made of flesh. We will be tested and there are times when we fail. We will have moments of doubt and confusion, devastation, and sometimes depression, feelings of hopelessness. We are not promised that we will not have these moments. We ARE promised that when we put our complete trust in God, that we will get through them. We will get through them because God is bigger than anything in this world. God is more powerful, more faithful, more trustworthy and loyal than any person or any thing that we count on in this temporary life on earth.

When we truly put all of our faith and trust in God, we will not fail - we will prevail. It may take awhile - and no one can guess how long - we just have to keep on believing and trusting. Look at JOB in the Bible - it took years for JOB to be delivered. We have to trust in the outcome, even when it is not what we wanted or expected. And, we have to believe that sometimes God's purpose is more than anything we could understand, and to leave it at that.

In my situation, I prayed (crying out to God) "LORD, no matter what the outcome, even if it is not what I want, I will accept it, I will give YOU the glory, and I will be thankful and trust that YOU will help me." The moment I prayed that prayer, I felt like a big weight was lifted off of my body. I knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God heard me, answered me, and I knew that God was with me.

So, how can a minister be depressed and devastated? Well, I am just a humble servant - a human being that has life experiences just like everyone else. And, when bad things happen, my faith is tested just like everyone else. However, it is my hope, as a minister and teacher for the LORD, that I can use these experiences to minister to others and help them through their situations. God will always be there to help you. Nobody deserves it. Nobody earns it. It is the gift of God through mercy and love and grace, freely given, ready for the asking. Don't hesitate to ask God for help. That's what HE wants. That's what he loves to do. HE is your Heavenly Father and He wants to help you now.

GOD IS GOOD - GOD IS GREAT - TRUST IN HIM - IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!
(Yes, I made that up.)

MY PRECIOUS LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST - WHEN I AM LOST AND HURTING, WHEN I SOMETIMES FEEL THERE IS NO HOPE - HELP ME TO ALWAYS PUT MY TRUST AND FAITH IN YOU - AND I WILL ALWAYS COME OUT A WINNER - FOR YOU NEVER FAIL - YOU ARE ALWAYS FAITHFUL AND LOYAL - YOU ARE ALWAYS TRUSTWORTHY - EVEN WHEN THE OUTCOME IS NOT WHAT I WANT - I HUMBLY ACCEPT YOUR ANSWER - I SURRENDER MY WILL TO YOURS - I KNOW THAT YOU ARE WITH ME - YOU SAVED ME FROM SIN AND DEATH - AND I AM MOST THANKFUL THAT I SHALL LIVE WITH YOU FOREVER IN HEAVEN - AMEN!

DEUTERONOMY 7:9
(9) Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

PSALM 36:5
(5) Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.

PSALM 143:1
(1) Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.

MATTHEW 6:30
(30) Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

ROMANS 1:16-17
(16) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
(17) For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT - 03/31/2011 - SHAME ON YOU, HYPOCRITES!

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT

03/31/2011

by Rev. Janet Marston

SHAME ON YOU, HYPOCRITES!

from Webster's Dictionary - the definition of HYPOCRITE:
1: a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion
2: a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings

My Gramma McGregor used to tell me not to let anything out of my mouth that I was not willing to eat! If dirt comes out of your mouth - then you will eat dirt. I never heard a bad word come out of my Gramma's mouth. She never said or did anything she did not stand up for.

Nothing irks me more than a hypocrite - someone who says one thing, but does the opposite (like most politicians) - or someone who pretends to be one way, but lives differently.

I will give you an example. I am not speaking about one person in particular - there are many people like this today - both male and female. But, lets say you go to a church where the pastor (or lay leader) prays with you and the congregation, acts like a good example for Christ - teaches bible studies, involved in charities, proclaims that they follow the 10 commandments - condemns others for smoking, drinking, and adultery. Everyone loves this person and believes this person is virtuous. BUT, this person, who is supposed to represent Christ and be an example and teach the sheep - this person does not act the same way at home. Let's say, this person refuses to pray with his own wife. He doesn't read God's word with her or his children, and indulges in profanities and promiscuous acts. Let's say, this person also gets drunk in secret and is abusive to his wife or children. And, let's say, this person may also be a drug addict.

Would you want this person to be a leader in your church? Would you want this person to be a representative of Christ? Of course not! It is one thing to have problems that you openly admit and are willing to get help for. We are to be helpful to our brothers and sisters in Christ who want and need help. But for someone to lie, or deny, that they are doing one thing, and pretending to be another, that is an abomination to God.

YOU are a representative of Christ, also - if you proclaim to be a Christian, then you must live up to what you SAY you are. Do you really think you can hide from God? Do you not know that God knows what you are doing? What makes you think you can get by with it? Do you not realize that you are turning people AWAY from Christ instead of TO him? We will all be accountable to God for our mistakes - I am not excluded in that either. But, to stand up in front of a congregation and act all high and almighty after indulging in 'secret sins' - is just plain wrong, folks. It's more than that - it's an abomination. The truth will come out and you will answer for it.

My point is this - yes, we are all sinners. I myself have made mistakes and hopefully learned from them. Life is a journey of learning from our mistakes, and growing closer to God in the process. Making mistakes is not hypocritical - it's a learning curve - and if you have learned and are willing to try harder and change - that is to be celebrated. But, if you are hiding and lying about who you really are - then you are a hypocrite and you need to get down on your knees and pray for God to forgive you, and you need to be willing to change - and you need to be willing to admit your faults. AND, if you are a pastor and you do not pray with your wife - SHAME on you - get on your knees and ask for forgiveness - do you think Jesus would refuse to pray with us? We are HIS bride - and you need to treat YOUR bride the same way Jesus would treat us.

OH, MY PRECIOUS LORD JESUS - YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL, LOVING AND FORGIVING - AND I AM SO MUCH A SINNER - I HAVE MY FAULTS AND I ADMIT THEM ALL TO YOU TODAY - I DO NOT ALWAYS ACT THE WAY I SHOULD, AND I AM TRULY SORRY - PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR MY SINS AND HELP ME TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT IN PUBLIC AND AT HOME. HELP ME TO BE A BETTER PERSON - AN HONEST AND LOYAL PERSON - AND NEVER A HYPOCRITE. AMEN.

PSALM 26:3-5 (NIV)
3 for I have always been mindful of your unfailing love and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness.
4 I do not sit with the deceitful, nor do I associate with hypocrites.
5 I abhor the assembly of evildoers and refuse to sit with the wicked.

MATTHEW 6:1-6 (NIV)(Giving to the Needy)
1 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
[Prayer]
5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

MATTHEW 23:22-25 (NIV)
22 And anyone who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the one who sits on it.
23 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT

WHAT IS AN ABOMINATION TO GOD?

Webster’s Dictionary defines “abomination” as:

Definition of ABOMINATION
1: something abominable
2: extreme disgust and hatred : loathing
Synonyms: abhorrence, hate, anathema, antipathy, aversion, bête noire, detestation, execration

In brief, “abomination” means something extremely hated – everyone has an abomination to something or for something – for instance, child molesting or abusing a child would be an abomination – something that I really hate with extreme disgust. So, what is an abomination to you? What do you think is an abomination to God? And, how many abominations are there in the Bible? Well, I did a search on Bible Gateway (www.biblegateway.com) under King James Version for the word “abomination” and came up with 142 instances of abomination in numerous verses – however, some are abominations to nations or other people but not in reference to GOD.

All sin is an abomination to GOD. GOD hates sin. None of us can avoid it – none of us can avoid sin – in essence, we all commit abominations to GOD, because GOD hates sin. Why is it, then, that we, as humans, tend to pick and choose which abominations are the ones that GOD will or will not approve of? Did GOD say, okay, I will accept these, but not those? NOT. GOD cannot approve of ANY type of sin because HE is perfect and cannot sin, and GOD cannot approve of anything that is not perfect. We, therefore, are full of sin, and cannot “not” sin. I know, sounds confusing. But, in simple form, this is what I am getting at – all SIN is an abomination to GOD, therefore, since we ALL sin, ALL of us commit abominations to GOD.

Look in the Old Testament – come on now, eating bacon and pork chops are abominations to GOD – do you really think GOD is going to condemn you to hell for eating a pork chop? I don’t think so. JESUS came and fulfilled the law – JESUS paid the price for our sins – JESUS said “It is finished” – HE died for the sins of the whole world – NOT just the ones WE approve of. Does that mean we should eat bacon three times per day? NO – although I would love to, it wouldn’t be good for my health. The point is, you have to look at the whole picture. GOD gave a plethora of instructions and commands to the people of Israel from what foods to eat, how to talk, how to dress, what to touch, what not to touch, and how to worship HIM – because salvation had not been attained yet through Jesus Christ – and, since we are now redeemed, many things are no longer applicable to today, like eating pork, things like that. We do not have to adhere to the food restrictions. Although if one chooses to out of personal choice, that’s okay too. GOD had HIS reasons for all of those instructions to the people of Israel.

It’s like being a parent – let’s say you have a child who is allergic to peanuts – you would therefore command that child not to eat peanuts, because it isn’t good for them. Let’s also say, you tell your child he can’t wear his hair long – and it’s because his school has a dress code in place – it’s for his own good – for the good of the people – not necessarily anything that would condemn them to hell.

But now, that does not mean that everything in the Old Testament is void – because GOD does expect us to do our best to live by the Ten Commandments and the commands that JESUS gave us in the New Testament – like love they neighbor as thyself, etc. So, we are not free to go rampant with sin and do as we please without consequences. ALL of us have to face the consequences of our actions – not one person on this earth can avoid the final judgment day. As Christians, being saved through the blood of Jesus Christ, who paid the atonement for our sins, we are forgiven. But, I assure you, that we will all still have to answer for what we have done and not done during our lives here on this earth. That’s for another sermon.

My point is this – with all the chaos and fighting and bickering amongst us so-called Christians about what is an abomination to GOD and who is better than someone else, what is right or wrong – we have no right to judge others for their sins, when we are all sinners. Let me tell you folks, judging others is an abomination to GOD also. Lying is an abomination to GOD (oops, there go all the politicians). Spewing hateful words and violence acts towards others “in the name of GOD” is absolutely an abomination to GOD. Got news for you, smoking cigarettes (or any kind of intoxicating substance) is also a sin – anything that hurts your body, like smoking and doing drugs, it’s all a sin – and is an abomination to GOD – even eating too much – or not eating enough on purpose, like bulimia and anorexia, it’s a sin because it hurts your body. Did you know that eating seafood like shrimp and crab legs (which I dearly love to eat) is a sin according to the Old Testament laws – and since sin is an abomination, well, if you want to adhere to the Old Testament laws, then you are sinning – hopefully, now, you get the picture.

We can, however, recognize that something is a sin, and, without judging and condemning others, and still love and care for that person for who they are and NOT what they do. Let the Holy Spirit speak to you and to them to convict them to want to change their ways. Someone has to want to change. We can’t force it on them. And, we should not disown them or excommunicate them either. How can you show someone unconditional love if you are giving them conditional ultimatums? There are times when intervention is needed, and that is after prayerful consideration and guidance by the Holy Spirit.

I suggest you humbly pray about the situation you are dealing with concerning the sin of another person and ask God to give you the right words to minister to them. God may not want you to get involved at all. HE may just want you to pray for the right person to come along to help. Regardless, tell that person you love them and that you respect their opinion and that you are there for them if they need you. You do not need to enable their sin, just back off and give them their space. Respecting an opinion does not mean accepting it. They have a right to their opinions just like everyone else. They may not know they are wrong – and be warned, you might be wrong.

We do not have to agree with everyone’s way of life or choices they make, and they don’t have to agree with ours – but we DO have to respect one another and love one another as Christ loves us, who gave HIS life for us and all of our dirty filthy sins and, if you don’t think you have any, you are wrong.

Next time you think about judging someone who is, for example, living a lifestyle you don’t approve of, or has committed adultery, or lied, or cheated, or an addict to alcohol or drugs, think about that bacon or pork chop you had recently. They don’t have to agree with your choices – and you don’t have to eat bacon.

LORD, JESUS, I ADMIT THAT I AM A SINNER, AND ALL SIN IS AN ABOMINATION TO YOU, BUT YOU DIED FOR ME ANYWAY. I ADMIT THAT NOT ONE DAY GOES BY THAT I CANNOT SIN, BUT YOU SAVED ME FROM MY SINS ANYWAY. I DO, HOWEVER, COME TO YOU, MY LORD AND SAVIOR, AND ASK YOUR FORGIVENESS FOR JUDGING OTHERS ON THEIR SINS, WHEN I SHOULD BE ASKING YOU TO FORGIVE ME FOR MINE. IT IS NOT MY JOB TO JUDGE – BUT TO LOVE OTHERS – AND SHOW THEM THE LOVE YOU HAVE FOR THEM AND THE FREE GIFT OF SALVATION THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN. KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT AND MY EYES OPEN, AND MY HEART FULL OF LOVE AND NOT HATE. AMEN.

Read through these scriptures that refer to things that are abominations to GOD. I highlighted in bold the word abomination in each verse:

1. Leviticus 7:18
And if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings be eaten at all on the third day, it shall not be accepted, neither shall it be imputed unto him that offereth it: it shall be an abomination, and the soul that eateth of it shall bear his iniquity.

2. Leviticus 11:10
And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

3. Leviticus 11:11
They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.

4. Leviticus 11:12
Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

5. Leviticus 11:13
And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

6. Leviticus 11:20

HAPPY ASH WEDNESDAY - SO, WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT

March 9, 2011
By Rev. Janet Marston

HAPPY ASH WEDNESDAY - SO, WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL!

Most people don't understand or care about Ash Wednesday - it's mostly a Catholic tradition - but is also celebrated by some protestants, like Lutherans, Episcopalians, Methodists, and so on.

So, what's the big deal? It really isn't a 'big' deal - but it is something good to think about. It's supposed to symbolize a 'day of repentance' - which begins the Lent season with the imposition of ashes on the forehead in the shape of a cross. The ashes are generally palm branches that are burned to ash from the previous Palm Sunday. Lent leads up to Easter Sunday (or) Resurrection Sunday - and also the Passover season.

Anyway, what's most important to remember is that is a voluntary act - just as JESUS voluntarily went through the journey to the cross for us - as an act of humility and faith, you can voluntarily take the journey through Lent to Easter, by deciding on something to give up or 'sacrifice' for JESUS.

Last year, I gave up Sonic - I absolutely LOVE Sonic hamburgers and chili dogs - it was tough - tougher than I thought it would be - and would you believe it - I actually went straight to Sonic after Easter service and chowed down on a big fat chili dog! Oh, the sacrifice (hee-hee).

You can give up anything you want - from food or favorite things to do or read - some people decide to give up a favorite snack like cookies or candy or even sodas - some people decide to give up their favorite TV shows or TV altogether - some try giving up their favorite past-time like playing golf or fishing. No matter what you decide, if you decide to do it, make sure it is something you will actually miss.

I haven't decided what to give up yet this year - but need to decide before the end of the day today. I already cut down on my Sonic and other junk food - so I don't miss that as much as I did last year. Maybe I will give up one of my weekly TV shows or snacks or something.

Here's an even better idea - how about just turning your life over to JESUS - and give up control of your own life - and in humility, sacrifice yourself for HIM? Now, think about this. We all claim to be Christian - but are we REALLY being "Christ-like" which is what the word means? Being "Christ-like" is being "like Christ" - what would JESUS do? In everything you do, every single day, do you think before you act? Do you say "hmmm...would JESUS approve?" - "Would JESUS do that?" - "Would JESUS watch that?" - "Would JESUS talk like that?" Well, if you truly are CHRIST-like, CHRISTIAN, you would want to turn your life over to HIM - it has to be of your own free will - not forced - not out of guilt or obligation - but from your heart.

When you pray to HIM and ask HIM to take over your life each and every day - and you reflect on that all throughout the day, you are truly sacrificing by giving HIM the control. JESUS turned his whole life over to be the sacrifice for us. Who better to take all of our burdens and cares to than the One who gave up everything to save us?

MY PRECIOUS LORD JESUS - MY SAVIOR - MY REDEEMER - I TURN MY WHOLE LIFE OVER TO YOU TODAY - IN EVERYTHING I DO OR SAY TODAY, I WILL THINK OF YOU AND TURN ALL MY PROBLEMS AND MY THOUGHTS AND ALL MY ACTIONS OVER TO YOUR CONTROL. I COME TO YOU WITH MY WHOLE HEART AND ALL THAT I AM - FROM MY OWN FREE WILL - IN HUMILITY AND LOVE, I THANK YOU FOR GIVING THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE FOR ME. HERE I AM, LORD - I AM ALL YOURS! AMEN!

PSALM 54:6-7 (NIV)
6 I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, LORD, for it is good.
7 You have delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes

ROMANS 3:22-26
22 This righteousness is given through faith in[h] Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile,
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement,[i] through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—
26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

HEBREWS 9:27-28
27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT - 02/21/2011 - LOVE ONE ANOTHER

February 21, 2011

by Rev. Janet Marston

LOVE ONE ANOTHER

In today's world, hate and violence is so increasingly prevalent, that it is easy for people to wonder where GOD is and also, where the "so-called" Christians are. With all of the media showing the failures and sins of Christians instead of the good that we do - we are even more under the microscope and need to be careful how we witness to others.

JESUS gave us the greatest commandment, to "love one another" - when we show true unconditional love for others - not judging or condemning others, but just really loving others - the light of JESUS shines. We cannot shout aggressively against violence and hate and then act out violence and hate without being labeled hypocrites - we should do our best to "practice what we preach". For example, how can a servant of GOD preach against profanity and domestic violence, when you are abusing their own spouses? How can a servant of GOD preach against alcoholism and drug abuse, when you are abusing alcohol and drugs? YOU CAN'T. You will turn people away from GOD and that is NOT what JESUS wants from us.

To be Christ-like is to show love, forgiveness, kindness to others as CHRIST has done for us. We cannot force our opinions on others and we should not try. We can only express them and pray that the Holy Spirit will convict them of the truth. I truly do not believe you can reach the lost by shoving the spiritual spoon down anyone's throat. You CAN reach the lost by showing JESUS' love the way HE commanded us to - helping the helpless, homeless, disabled, sick, elderly, the hurting, and more - all of those who are in need. I have seen more people turn to GOD because of simple acts of love and kindness - NOT by violence, shouting, or judging.

Yes, we are in a world that is increasing in violence, profanities, vulgarities, addictions, pain, hurt and hopelessness. It is our duty, as servants of the Cross, to hold up the Cross in unconditional love - not judging - just showing people that GOD loves them - once the seed of Love is planted, the Holy Spirit will do the rest - we should then listen to GOD and minister to them as GOD calls us to.

FATHER GOD IN HEAVEN, IN THE NAME OF JESUS, YOUR BLESSED SON, I COME TO YOU TODAY AS YOUR HUMBLE SERVANT - HELP ME TO BE KIND AND LOVING TO OTHERS AND NOT JUDGE OR CONDEMN THEM - BUT INSTEAD, TO SHOW THE LOVE THAT YOU HAVE FOR THEM AND PRAY FOR THEM AND HELP THEM, AS YOU CALL ME TO DO. AMEN.

JOHN 13:34-35
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

ROMANS 12:9-11
9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

GALATIANS 5:13-14
13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

EPHESIANS 4:1-3
1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

1 JOHN 4:11-13
11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit.

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT - 02/14/2011 - WHO IS YOUR VALENTINE?

February 14, 2011

By Rev. Janet Marston

WHO IS YOUR VALENTINE? WHO IS THE ONE YOU LOVE THE MOST?

Sure, we love our significant others, and our children, and our families - but, who do you love the most? Is GOD on your list? Do you love GOD more than anything or anyone? GOD commands that we put Him first. He showed HIs love for us by sending His only begotten Son to be the sacrifice for our sins. Today, let JESUS be your valentine. Show JESUS that you love Him the most. Tell Him you love Him and show Him how much you appreciate His love for you and do something nice for someone today. That would be a great Valentines Day present to the One who created TRUE LOVE!

JESUS, YOU ARE MY TRUE VALENTINE - THE ONE THAT I LOVE THE MOST - ABOVE ALL THINGS - ABOVE ALL PEOPLE. YOU ARE THE EXAMPLE OF TRUE LOVE - FORGIVENESS, SACRIFICE, KINDNESS AND GOODNESS. TODAY, I GIVE MY HEART AND SOUL TO YOU - LET ME SHOW MY LOVE FOR YOU BY BEING KIND AND AND SHOWING UNCONDITIONAL LOVE TO OTHERS. AMEN.

LEVITICUS 19:18 (NIV)
18 “‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

DEUTERONOMY 6:5 (NIV)
5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

PSALM 33:21-22 (NIV)
21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
22 May your unfailing love be with us, LORD, even as we put our hope in you.

ROMANS 5:8
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 CORINTHIANS 13:2-4 (NIV)
2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[a] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

MARK 11:22-25
22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.
23 “Truly[f] I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.
24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT - February 7, 2011

When everything seems hopeless, lean on the One who gives HOPE.
When you are struggling with your faith, turn to the One who gives FAITH.
Do not look to the world for your comfort and peace - look to the LORD, who gives us Comfort and Peace.

All is not lost when you have the Lord - though the world may turn you away and even when you lose all of your possessions, no one can take your spirit and soul - which belongs to GOD.

No matter what you are going through - nothing is too tough for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who conquered death, and saved us from all of our sins. Everyone makes mistakes. GOD forgives. Everyone makes bad choices from time to time. GOD makes the right choices ALL the time. Most of us have felt betrayal and unfaithfulness by those we love in one way or another. GOD is faithful ALL the time.

You can trust GOD all the time. GOD will never leave you or forsake you. Turn to HIM now.

IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, AND THE SON, AND THE HOLY GHOST, DEAR LORD, HEAR MY PRAYER. I COME TO YOU TODAY, LORD, WITH A HUMBLE HEART, WITH MY WHOLE HEART. I AM HURTING. I FEEL BETRAYED. I FEEL I CAN'T TRUST ANYONE IN THIS WORLD. BUT, I KNOW THAT I CAN TRUST YOU, LORD. YOU ARE FAITHFUL. YOU ARE THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. I PUT MY WHOLE LIFE AND EVERYTHING I HAVE IN YOUR HANDS TODAY, LORD. I ALSO PRAY FOR MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS - FOR THOSE WHO NEED YOU, AND ASK YOU TO BLESS THEM AND ANSWER THEIR PRAYERS. I ASK YOU TO FORGIVE ME OF MY SINS AND HELP ME TO BE STRONG AND TO LIVE THE REST OF MY LIFE SERVING YOU, MY WONDERFUL SAVIOR, MY PRECIOUS LORD. IN JESUS HOLY NAME, I PRAY, AMEN.

PSALM 25:16-18 (NIV)
16 Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.
17 Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish.
18 Look on my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins.

2 CORINTHIANS 1:3-24 (NIV)
Praise to the God of All Comfort
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,
4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.
6 If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.
7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT - January 31, 2011

January 31, 2011

Forgiveness. Hurt. Betrayal. Pain. Everyone struggles. I talk to people frequently who have trouble forgiving others who have hurt them. Believe me when I say, we have all been hurt and all of us have had times trouble forgiving others. Some people have been hurt more than others - whether it be abuse, betrayal, unfaithfulness, lies - it all hurts - our GOD commands that we forgive others so HE can forgive us and we can serve HIM. We cannot serve HIM if we have unforgiveness or bitterness in our hearts.

Yes, it can be very difficult to forgive someone who has hurt us, especially if it is over and over. Have you been emotionally or physically abused? Have you lost someone you love to a tragic accident or even murder? GOD still commands that we must forgive - no matter what the circumstances are. If GOD can send HIS only begotten SON to hang on a cross, being tortured, to forgive us from our sins - then we can most certainly forgive others who have hurt us. JESUS was tortued, betrayed, murdered on the cross - and HE still forgave all the worst murderers and haters - HE said "it is finished" - HE did not say "only certain people" - HE died for ALL of us. WE are no better than GOD - so we do not have the right to hold unforgiveness and bitterness in our hearts?

How do we do that? We do that with fervent prayer. Pray every day for the person who hurt you - pray for GOD to forgive them, and for GOD to help you to forgive them. Over time, it will happen.

Just like everything GOD has blessed us with, we must choose to forgive. No one can make you. GOD will not make you. You have to choose it. First, choose to forgive, then pray for them every day. You do not have to understand what happened. But you DO have to forgive. Do not let bitterness and unforgiveness keep you from the Love of GOD through Christ Jesus. There is Love, Healing, Forgiveness, Peace from GOD waiting for you. Go to HIM. Ask GOd to forgive you for your sins and ask GOD to help you forgive others.

IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, AND THE SON, AND THE HOLY GHOST - LORD, HEAR MY PRAYER - DEAR PRECIOUS SAVIOR, I HAVE BEEN HURT. I FEEL BETRAYED AND USED. AND IT IS HARD FOR ME TO FORGIVE THOSE WHO HAVE HURT ME, BUT I ASK YOU, WITH HUMBLESS IN MY HEART, TO HELP ME FORGIVE THOSE WHO HAVE HURT ME - HELP ME TO TURN AWAY FROM BITTERNESS AND PAIN AND TURN TO YOU, THE ONE TRUE GOD, WHO HEALS AND SAVES. FILL ME WITH FORGIVENESS, PEACE, AND JOY, SO THAT I MAY SERVE YOU WITH GLADNESS AND HELP OTHERS - EVEN MY ENEMIES. AMEN.

PSALM 130:3-5 (NIV)
3 If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?
4 But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. 5 I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.

MARK 11:24-26 (NIV)
24 "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

COLOSSIANS 3:12-14 (NIV)
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT - January 24, 2011

January 24, 2011

Did you know you have a personal counselor? A personal "therapist" so to speak, who doesn't charge for His services? Not to take away from necessary medical attention - because I do believe we should seek professional help when needed - but there is someone else - someone who is always there to listen to us - to listen to us squabble about our problems and help us sort out why we make mistakes and how we can learn from them and grow - this person is the HOLY SPIRIT - or HOLY GHOST - also known as our Counsellor our Teacher and our Comforter.

The Holy Spirit is just as important as the rest of the Holy Trinity - but all are One in the same - I know - gets confusing - and we, as humans, could never fully understand it all - that's where FAITH comes in - the HOLY SPIRIT is inside of you - inside of me - inside of all of those who accept God's gift of salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ. The HOLY SPIRIT dwells "in" us - you know that little voice that tells you "maybe you shouldn't do that" or makes you feel a little cautious about things? That comes from the HOLY SPIRIT, who is here to guide us, counsel us, teach us, to be our comforter when we are hurting and also to rejoice with us when we are happy.

Even King David knew in the Old Testament, that the HOLY SPIRIT is very important - without the HOLY SPIRIT of the LIVING GOD, we do not HAVE God. Sure, we all mess up. We all make mistakes. But we have the HOLY SPIRIT of the ONE TRUE GOD to help us learn from our mistakes, and to move on and grow stronger.

So, next time you hear that little voice - listen, stop, pray, ask God to guide you - say, "Hey God, is that You trying to tell me something? I am here to listen, Lord."

CREATE IN ME A CLEAN HEART OH GOD AND RENEW A RIGHT SPIRIT WITHIN ME - CAST ME NOT AWAY FROM THY PRESENCE, AND KEEP THY HOLY SPIRIT IN ME. AMEN.

PSALM 51:9-11 (NIV)
9 Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.

ACTS 2:38-39
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT - January 19, 2011

January 19, 2011

Be careful what you ask GOD for - because you will get it! All in fun - I asked GOD once for patience - HE gave me three ADHD boys (hee) - I asked GOD for humility - HE made me a mother (that will humble anyone). GOD is not a magic genie to grant our silly material wishes - but HE will answer you when you come to HIM with your true heart and soul - HE knows our every need before we do. HE takes care of all of HIS creation - the mountains, prairies, oceans and wildlife - why would HE not provide for us - HIS blessed children? Of course, HE will! Don't feel guilty for coming to GOD with your prayers and requests - just like any parent - GOD wants us to come to HIM - just be warned, though, sometimes HIS answer is not what you think it might be - but when you put all of your faith and trust in HIM - you can't go wrong!

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Lord, hear my prayer. Wonderful Father of the fatherless - blessed Redeemer and Savior - I come to You today with my whole heart - my soul and everything that is in me - I turn it over to You, Lord - I am Your child, Your humble servant - I turn my eyes to You - and the words of my mouth - may everything I do and say today be a witness for YOU and not of this cruel world. Help me to stay focused on You - and protect me from all evil. AMEN.

PSALM 119:36-38 (NIV)
36 Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.
37 Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.
38 Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared.

JOB 19:25-26 (NIV)
25 I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth.
26 And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;

JUDE 1:25 (NIV)
25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT - January 14, 2011

January 14, 2011

WOW! When GOD works - HE works! Amen to that! Ever have something work out at the last minute? Ever wonder how things can work out so perfectly at just the right time with just the right circumstances after so much doubt and worry? Well, that's how our GOD works. When you put GOD first in your life - when you make GOD head of your household - you cannot help but see HIS mighty hand at work - especially when hard times hit.

HE knows the right time, the right place, the right people. And, we should never forget to thank HIM and give HIM all the glory and praise for answering our prayers. Sometimes the answer is "no" or "not now" or "later" - but when it is a "yes" - you can bet that GOD will provide in ways that can only be from HIM. What goes around comes around - and when GOD comes around - LOOK OUT for something wonderful - the light at the end of HIS tunnel is HEAVEN!

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, LORD, hear my prayer. I can't thank You enough, LORD, for being by my side, for helping me through the tough times that I am facing right now. I am sure there are others in the same situation as myself, or even worse. Today, I lift up all those who are heavy-laden and troubled to You, Lord. I am Your humble servant, and as for me and MY house - I shall forever serve the LORD! Amen.

JOSHUA 24:14-16 (NKJV)
14 “Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

PSALM 4:1 (NIV)
1 Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

2 CORINTHIANS 1:10-11 (NIV)
10 He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us,
11 as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

FOOD FOR THE SPIRIT - January 13, 2011

January 13, 2011

Continuing the focus on the importance of prayer - sometimes, when I have trouble trying to come up with the words to say when I want to pray, I ask the Holy Spirit to help me. Sometimes, I will pray in the Spirit, sing a hymn, hum a tune, play a church song on the piano, read the Bible or just sit quietly and wait for the words. We can all be overwhelmed with problems, get confused, or just not know how to ask for help. Remember that GOD always knows what is in our heart, and if we ask Him to reach down and find the words for us, He will. He will help you and guide you.

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, dear Lord, hear my prayer. Wonderful Savior, Almighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, my Deliverer, my Rock and my Fortress against all that is evil, I put all of my faith and trust in You today, my Strength and my Redeemer. Holy Spirit of the Living God, when my words stumble and I cannot speak or utter the words that my heart wants to say, reach down in my soul, and You will find them there. I lift up all prayer requests and petitions up to You today, Lord, and ask You to put a hedge of protection of Holy Angels and me, my family, friends, and all those who read this prayer. In Your Holy Name I pray and give You all the glory, AMEN.

1 CHRONICLES 29:10-11 (NIV)
10 David praised the LORD in the presence of the whole assembly, saying, “Praise be to you, LORD, the God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.
11 Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.

PSALM 86:1-3 (NIV)
1 Hear me, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
2 Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God;
3 have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.

HEBREWS 5:7-10 (NIV)
7 During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.
8 Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered
9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him
10 and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.

January 12, 2011 - DAILY PRAYER - DEVOTIONAL

January 12, 2011

PRAY - PRAY - PRAY - PRAYER IS THE KEY TO OPEN THE DOORS OF HEAVEN - OUR COMMUNICATION TO GOD - OUR LIFELINE - THE 9-1-1 TO HEAVEN'S EMERGENCY ROOM! Call on GOD and HE will help you - but just like an emergency room or hospital - if you don't call 9-1-1, no one can help you - if you don't "go" to the hospital or doctor when you have a physical emergency, you can't get the help you need. Now, don't misunderstand, prayer is not the magic word or the genie in the bottle to get your wishes - GOD listens to your prayers - and GOD decides how to answer them - HE knows what's best for you - and HE knows your needs before you do - but, it's that 'free will' thing - HE won't push himself on you - you gotta ask. If a child wants a cookie, he or she goes to mama or daddy and asks. It's just like that. GOD is our Heavenly Father, and HE wants to bless us. HE wants to help us. But we gotta ask.

JESUS made it a point to teach his disciples how to pray what we call "The Lord's Prayer" - it is the all-encompassing "git-r-dun" prayer - when all else fails - when you can't think of the right words - say the Lord's Prayer - I do - almost every day. Sometimes, when I feel distressed, I will go somewhere quiet and say the Lord's Prayer - sometimes several times.

In the New International Version of the Bible, there are 154 instances of the word 'prayer' - and 367 instances of the word 'pray' - including prayer, prayed, etc. All throughout the Bible, you read the importance of praying to GOD, praying for your needs, praying for help, pray - pray - pray. How people prayed to GOD for their needs. The best part of prayer is - it WORKS - our GOD never fails - if HE says that we can come to Him for anything - if we come to Him in prayer and believe what we ask, it shall be given to us - then HE means it - if there's one thing you can remember - one thing to never forget - never forget to pray - that's your key - that's your stronghold to GOD. Communication is the key, folks, and since the beginning, GOD established prayer. Why prayer? Why not something else? To repeat myself, because it WORKS. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! That's what my gramma used to say - and she was right. Well, GOD ain't broke and prayer works - USE IT! AMEN TO THAT!

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, LORD, Hear my prayer. Thank you, Lord, for giving us prayer to communicate with You and bring our petitions to You. I give You all the glory forever and ever! Wonderful Jesus, You are the One I will call upon for my every need. You are the One that I will go to when I am sick, hurt, sad, or burdened. You are also the One I will come to to give thanks and praise for all the blessings that You have given me. Keep me focused on You, Lord, and keep them prayer lines open! HALLELUJAH! AMEN!

PSALM 66:18-20
18 If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;
19 but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer.
20 Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!

PSALM 86:5-7
5 You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.
6 Hear my prayer, LORD; listen to my cry for mercy.
7 When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me.

MATTHEW 6:6-9
6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,[a] but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’

PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

1 THESSALONIANS 5;16-18
16 Rejoice always,
17 pray continually,
18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

January 11, 2011 - DAILY PRAYER - DEVOTIONAL

January 11, 2011

God has put on my heart to focus on "prayer" - especially with so many people having needs, trials and tribulations. I, myself, am going through some tough times - but one thing that the devil CANNOT do - and that is, he CANNOT take my soul - we have to give it to him - and I am not going to do that - just like JOB, we shall all have troubles - but when we turn to GOD, we become the victor because GOD ALWAYS WINS! AMEN! HALLELUJAH! THANK YOU JESUS! PRAISE BE TO THE ONE TRUE GOD WHO LIVES AND REIGNS FOREVER AND EVER!

Lift everything up to God in prayer!

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, dear LORD, hear my prayer. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me from my sins. I humbly ask You to put a hedge of protection of Holy Angels around me, my family and my friends, and all those who read this prayer. I lift up all needs to You, Lord, for all who are hurting, lost, feel abandoned, in pain, for all that is known and unknown. Your boundless mercy and love is enough to save the whole world, and I put my complete trust and faith in You. Today, I am yours, Your humble servant, Lord. Fill me with Your presence and keep me away from all that is evil. AMEN.

PSALM 28:1-2
1 To you, LORD, I call; you are my Rock, do not turn a deaf ear to me.
For if you remain silent, I will be like those who go down to the pit.
2 Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.

MATTHEW 5:6-8 (NIV)
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
